      Ad preview (Newsletter simulation)

      Check out what your ads look like inside your newsletter, as a preview, from within the Emperor platform.

      To activate the preview option, subscribe Passendo to your newsletter
      To be able to create a simulation in Emperor, the first step is to send your newsletter to us. In your ESP, after you added the Passendo tag(s) in the newsletter, add the sendout@passendo.com email to your subscribers' list or send the newsletter directly to that email. You should check the Emperor's UI about 10 minutes after the email's sendout.

      There are two ways to find your preview: navigating to the Newsletter or directly to the Line item.

      Creating a simulation from a Newsletter

      SUPPLY > Brand > "Newsletter name"

      If you are in the Newsletter, click Preview and select Sendouts history. You will find the sendout that you sent from the ESP.

      On the Sendouts History page you will find your list of email sendouts with information about:

      • Sendout name: the subject line of the sendout

      • Sendout ID

      • Date: the date of the sendout

      • Passendo tags: the number of Passendo tags the newsletter contains

      Creating a newsletter simulation from your Line item

      DEMAND > Advertiser > Order > "Line item name"

      You must ensure you have set up a Line item that targets the placement(s) inside that newsletter. Opening the Line item, click on Preview:

      A newsletter simulation form opens. You can preview the newsletter in a web browser or send it to one or more email addresses. Let’s try in the browser first:

      • Select the newsletter you want to preview. (Here in this example, we show a newsletter named "ad preview test" in the dropdown. Since we set up our specific line item to target placements that belong to that newsletter.)



      • Select which email sendout you want to preview this line item in:

      • Selecting the sendout, the list of all placements that the sendout contains will be displayed.

      • The last step is to select which creative you want to preview on that sendout. Our system can detect if the placement has set both landscape and portrait sizes.


        Explaining the screenshots above:

        • Random Creative: by default, we display a random creative, meaning our “regular” ad selection process (in case you have multiple creatives)

        • 1x1 collapse placement: this option will collapse the placement and serve a 1x1 pixel placeholder instead.
        • Actual creatives: everything that you already have in that line item (in the last screenshot you can see an example named "andas" as the only creative).

      Let's proceed by selecting an existing creative and clicking on Preview in Browser. This will open the newsletter preview in a new window with the selected creative:

      Note: If you send the newsletter to the sendout@passendo.com email without a Passendo tag, we will NOT store the sendout in the UI.

      If you choose Preview in Browser AND input an email address too, by clicking "Send," that email address will receive the preview.

      See the list of your simulations:

      When you navigate to a specific newsletter by clicking on Preview → Newsletter Simulations, you can see the simulations you have generated. It is possible to resend them, as well as to remove them from the UI.

      You can also access the user-generated simulations on the Line item level by clicking Preview.
