Forced: A detailed explanation

As mentioned in the article Bookings , the ‘Forced’ feature is used to set up sponsorship campaigns (and fallback campaigns), by making sure that the booking(s) are shown everytime on the priority on which they are placed.

In this article, we will cover exactly which other campaign and booking settings a forced booking will supersede, and which it will not.

A forced booking WILL NOT supersede these settings:

1. Campaign settings:

  • Start and end date  - but the system will not optimize to deliver evenly, so the campaign will end as soon as possible when the volume is reached.
  • Campaign Total Volume
  • Geolocation
  • Devices

2. Creatives:

  • Start and end date (see the remark above about end date)

3. Bookings:

  • Start and end date (see the remark above about end date)
  • "Run on these days" setting for specific weekdays
  • Key value pairs
  • Other bookings on the same priority, that are not forced.

A forced booking WILL supersede these settings:

1. Recency timer

2. Campaign settings:

  • Daily delivery limits
  • Pacing (see above - cannot optimize for even delivery)
  • Frequency
3. Bookings:
  • View Volume, Click Volume, and Pixel Volume settings at the "Add Bookings" page.

If multiple bookings on a placement are forced on the same priority, and they are all in an active timeframe, it will be random which booking the system selects to show the user. For a ‘true’ sponsorship, please only have one booking forced on the priority.
