Package your inventory with Channels. Channels can be added and managed within Emperor from the Channels section that is located under Supply in the menu on your left side.
Here, you can create your channels one by one by hitting the Create new channel button on the top right corner.
Create a thematic channel by adding the channel name, eg Interior Design and Architecture Channel for all your brands and newsletters that speak to the architecture enthusiasts.
Then, assign the righ team or multiple teams from the dropdown menu in the Teams field.
IMPORTANT: Teams field is ONLY VISIBLE if your account has multiple teams, or if a certain user is a part of more than one team. If you belong to a single team, that team will be assigned to the layout automatically.
Finally, under the Inventory selector you will find all the brands and newsletters you have created so far.
Inventory selector menu opens the list of all brands you have in your Emperor Brands list. By clicking on the “>” icon, you can expand each brand and see the list of your newsletters to add to the inventory of a specific channel.
IMPORTANT: You can add entire brands to the channel or just specific Newsletters from a brand that is not included.
You will see the list of included inventory at the bottom, where you can double-check if your channel is complete.
Furthermore, you can exclude an inventory by following these steps:
- Open inventory selector
- Select a parent entity (a brand or newsletter)
- Deselect a specific child entity (placement or newsletter).
If you encounter any changes and transformations in the inventory, you can address them by revising the inventory from your Channels. For example, your analytics from the dedicated Data Platform you use show that a certain percentage of your New York Today newsletter by The New Yorker is interested in local pop culture news besides politics. However, that topic is not the primary interest of your audience, so you decide to deliver entertainment ads only as a bottom ad placement within this newsletter.
Moreover, you do not want to deliver entertainment ads within the Politics in the US today newsletter, so there is no need to target this entire brand. Here is what you do in that situation:
- If this brand was not a part of your inventory for this channel, expand the brand and New York Today newsletter and only select the bottom ad placement.
- Or, if The New Yorker was selected, you can exclude the Politics in the US today newsletter, as well as the irrelevant placements from New York Today newsletter, and only leave the bottom ad placement as a part of your inventory for the Entertainment channel.
IMPORTANT: If you still haven’t added any brands and newsletters to your Emperor database, don’t worry. You can always add inventory to your channels later on, or directly assign channels to the newsletters as you create them.
